1. Select Installation Location

Choose a stable, accessible location in the equipment room or data center. Ensure the floor can support the ODF weight and allows sufficient space for cable entry, routing, and future maintenance . Consider environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and dust protection.

2. Mount the ODF Frame

  • Floor-mounted installation: Drill four holes according to the ODF manual dimensions and secure the frame with expansion bolts .
  • Top or rack-mounted installation: Align the top connection holes with the cable rack and secure using angle connectors and aluminum brackets .
  • Multiple racks: If combining racks, connect adjacent frames with bolts to maintain stability and alignment .

3. Prepare Fiber Cables

  • Strip the outer jacket of the fiber cables carefully.
  • Install protection connectors to safeguard both ribbon and bundle fibers during handling .
  • Route fibers through bare fiber protection tubes to prevent mechanical stress and maintain bend radius .

4. Install Splice and Distribution Modules

  • Place splice trays in the first level of the ODF to protect fiber splices. Each tray typically holds up to 12 splices .
  • Use the second level for distribution/terminal panels where connectors will be terminated .
