Standard Ribbon Cables

Standard ribbon cables consist of multiple optical fibers arranged in flat ribbons, typically with 12 fibers per ribbon, which can be stacked to achieve high fiber counts ranging from 12 to over 3,456 fibers . These cables are designed for mass-fusion splicing, allowing all fibers in a ribbon to be spliced simultaneously, significantly reducing installation time. They are used in campus, building, and data center backbones, as well as FTTH feeder and distribution networks . Standard ribbon cables can be gel-free for easier cleaning and maintenance, and are available with flame-retardant jackets for indoor use or durable HDPE jackets for outdoor deployment .

Intermittently Bonded Ribbon (FlexRibbon®)

Fiber Count and Ribbon Configurations
