1. Prepare for Installation

• Keep the dust caps on the optical module and switch port until ready to insert . 2. Inspect the Module and Port
• Check the optical module and port for visible damage or debris .
• Identify the alignment key on the module (a small groove or ridge) and match it to the keyway in the switch port . 3. Insert the Module
• Hold the module by its sides, keeping the connector end straight .
• Slide the module straight into the port without rocking, twisting, or forcing it .
• Push until you feel it seat firmly and hear or feel a click, indicating the latch has engaged .
• If the module has a handle or latch, gently push or close it to secure the module .
• If resistance is felt, remove the module, check orientation, and try again . 4. Connect Fiber Optic Cables
• Remove the dust caps from the module and fiber connectors.
