Working Principle of Photovoltaic Power Distribution Box

A photovoltaic power distribution box consolidates DC electricity from multiple solar panel strings, stabilizes voltage, and provides protection and monitoring before sending power to the inverter.

Core Functions

Current Collection: The PV distribution box receives direct current (DC) from multiple solar panel strings through input terminals. Inside the box, busbars or terminal blocks gather these currents, ensuring continuity and stable flow to the inverter . Voltage Matching and Stabilization: The box monitors and adjusts the voltage and current from each string to maintain a consistent output. This prevents energy loss caused by mismatched voltages and ensures efficient operation of the solar system . Safety Protection: PV distribution boxes are equipped with multiple protective devices, including DC fuses, circuit breakers, surge protection devices (SPDs), and disconnect switches. These components safeguard against overcurrent, short circuits, reverse current, lightning surges, and other electrical faults. Individual string fuses isolate faulty panels without affecting the rest of the system, while circuit breakers provide overall load protection and allow safe maintenance .   4. Output Stage: The stabilized and protected DC power is sent to the inverter for conversion to alternating current (AC) suitable for residential, commercial, or industrial use .
